Tactile Mode with Neuroport Tactile Box

To use the tactile mode with the external serial port box (Neuroport Tactile Box):

For MODEL 1:

1.  Place a 9 volt alkaline battery in the battery compartment of the box.

2.  Attach a cable or short COM port connector to the box and to the serial port on the back of your computer and switch on the box.  A green light will indicate the box is activated.

3.  Plug your pulsers into the box.

3.  In the Neurolateral program, click in the tactile check box on the program screen. To turn off tactile mode, click again, and it will be de-selected.

4. Your tactile selection will be saved with Client Settings.

5. Set the length of tactile pulse with the tactile pulse length slider in the tactile line on the program screen.
Advanced Tactile Settings.

Tip:  The COM cable or connector can be purchased at many computer stores.  You will need a 9 pin male/female cable.  "Serial" and "COM" port are used interchangeably.  For laptop computers, you may only need the short connector, which reduces the number of cables/wires in your work area.  Some new computers have only USB ports, and no COM ports.  You may purchase a USB/COM port converter to get around this. We also carry these in stock.

For MODEL 2:

1.  Plug the USB connector into the a USB receptacle in your computer.

2.  Install the drivers for the box as per instructions sent with your tactile box.

3.  Plug pulsers into the box.

4.  Continue as above.

Important Tip:

Occasionally, your computer will not "know" which port your tactile box is plugged in.  If your box doesn't work right away, you may have to choose the COM ports one at a time, until you find the right one.  Thereafter the computer will remember which port your tactile box was in.  You do this under the Tactile tab on the menu bar, under Advanced Settings.  Set it for COM 1, then try it, then go back, set it for COM 2 etc.
